Serving families across the East Bay with warm, relationship-centered care at home.

Personal · Selective · Owner-led

The home care agency I wish my family had.

My father has Parkinson’s. I started Liora to give East Bay families the kind of personal, selective, owner-led home care I want for my own parents.

Meet the founder

Why I started Liora.

My father has Parkinson’s.

I know firsthand how heavy it gets when the people who once cared for you begin to need care themselves, the logistics, the decisions, the weight of watching someone you love become more vulnerable, and the exhausting work of trying to find people you can actually trust in your parent’s home.

I started Liora because I looked at home care in the East Bay and kept seeing the same pattern: agencies that started out small and attentive, then scaled into something that looked like every other agency. More clients, thinner attention, interchangeable caregivers, less owner involvement.

I’m building Liora to not do that. We’re small on purpose, and we plan to stay that way.

If you call, you talk to me. If you hire us, I meet your family and hand-pick the caregiver myself. I stay involved as the situation changes. And if I don’t think in-home care is actually the right answer for your parent, I’ll tell you that, and help you figure out what is.

That’s the whole promise. It’s the reason Liora exists.

Our standards

The standards Liora commits to, from day one.

Liora is new. There aren’t years of reviews yet. What there is, instead, is a clear set of operational standards — written down, published, and in force from the first family Liora serves.

On caregivers

  • Every caregiver is personally interviewed by Eytan.

No exceptions, no delegation to a staffing coordinator, no hiring from a pool.

  • Background-checked and registered.

Every caregiver is cleared through the California Home Care Aide Registry and passes a criminal background check before entering any client’s home.

  • Bonded and insured.

Every caregiver is bonded and covered under our general liability and workers’ comp policies.

  • Matched deliberately.

Liora doesn’t assign the next available person. Better to delay starting care by a few days than put the wrong person in the home.

On how we work

  • The owner answers the phone.

You reach Eytan, not an intake team — before care begins and after.

  • Free in-home consultation.

The first visit is free, in your home, with no pressure and no obligation.

  • Honest guidance, even when it’s not us.

If a different provider, level of care, or setting would serve you better, we’ll tell you — and help you find it.

  • Small on purpose.

Liora caps how many families it takes at once. When we’re full, we’ll say so — and point you toward providers we respect.

On being a regulated business

  • Licensed by the California Department of Social Services · HCO #074700244
  • Bonded and insured
  • Caregivers are W-2 employees, not 1099 contractors
  • Workers’ compensation coverage in place

How it works

What happens when you reach out.

Most families reach out in the middle of something — a hospital discharge, a fall, a parent who suddenly can’t manage alone. Here’s what actually happens, step by step.

  1. 1

A phone call, usually answered in minutes.

When you call Liora, you reach me. If I’m on another line, I’ll call you back quickly — usually the same day. We’ll talk through what’s going on: what’s changed, what’s most urgent, what you’ve already tried, and whether in-home care is actually the right next step. If it isn’t, I’ll tell you.

  2. 2

A free visit to your home.

If it makes sense to keep talking, I come to you. The first visit is free, always — no assessment fee, no pressure, no obligation. I meet the person who needs care, the family, and the home. By the end of the visit we’ll have a rough plan, or we’ll have decided together that Liora isn’t the right fit.

  3. 3

    A caregiver I choose, personally.

I don’t assign the next available person. I match based on personality, skills needed, schedule, and continuity. If I don’t have the right caregiver available, I’ll tell you — and we’ll wait until I do. Usually a few days, sometimes a week. Better to start right than start fast.

  4. 4

    I stay involved. Actually involved.

Once care begins, this is what that means, concretely:

    • I review every caregiver’s daily care notes.Every day.
    • I check in with each caregiver at least once a week. How the client is doing, what’s changing, what needs attention.
    • I visit every family at least once a month. In person, in the home.

When something shifts — a new diagnosis, a hospital stay, a caregiver change needed — you don’t have to navigate a call center. You call me.

How we help

The situations Liora is built for.

Families typically reach out at an inflection point — after a hospitalization, during cognitive change, when help with bathing or mobility is increasing, or when a spouse or adult child is burning out from caregiving. These are the situations Liora is built for.

  • Personal Care

Dignified support with toiletting, bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, transfers, and mobility.

  • Companion Care

Conversation, presence, walks, routine, meal companionship, and day-to-day support.

  • Meal Preparation

Meal prep, hydration, grocery help, and simple routines around eating well at home.

  • Household Support

Laundry, linens, dishes, light housekeeping, keeping the home calm and cared-for.

  • Memory Support

Thoughtful, patient care for older adults living with dementia or cognitive change.

  • Overnight Support

A steady presence through the night, for post-hospital recovery, sleep-disrupted stretches, or families who just need to sleep.

  • Respite for Family Caregivers

Relief for spouses and adult children who need rest, coverage, or a little breathing room.

  • Transportation

Rides to appointments, errands, and out-of-home support that keeps life moving.

Local judgment

We know the East Bay care landscape, and we’ll put it to work for you.

Good home care is one piece of the puzzle. Most families who reach out are navigating more than that: which skilled nursing facility to choose, whether a board-and-care home makes sense, how to push back on a hospital discharge plan, which specialist to call, what to ask the memory care director on Monday’s tour.

This is the kind of work geriatric care managers charge $200 an hour for.

Because Liora works exclusively in the East Bay, Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano counties, we’ve gotten to know the local care ecosystem well. That knowledge is part of working with Liora, whether you hire us or not.

What that looks like in practice

  • Pointing you in the right direction.

Which providers I’d send my own parents to. Which ones I wouldn’t. What the tradeoffs actually are.

  • Making a warm introduction.

If someone else is the right call, I’ll make the intro personally — not hand you a list of phone numbers.

  • Helping you ask the right questions.

Walking into a tour, a care conference, or a discharge meeting is easier when you know what to listen for. I’ll prep you.

  • Negotiating with, or for, you.

Care facilities, insurance, discharge timelines. I know what’s actually negotiable and how to push.

Let’s talk

Not sure where to start? Let’s talk.

If your family is facing a recent change, planning ahead, or just trying to understand the next step — I’m here to think it through with you. The first conversation is free, no pressure, and often clarifying — even if Liora isn’t the right fit.

You’ll reach me directly. I pick up the phone myself.
